Healthy Plants, Pollinators, and People: A Summer of Community Blooms!
Our joyful new pilot program helped Mississauga residents connect with native plants, pollinators, neighbours, and nature.
This summer, Blooming Boulevards was buzzing with activity as we launched our new Healthy Plants, Pollinators, and People pilot program. From friendly outreach booths to garden wellness visits and hands-on neighbourhood projects, our team brought native plants and pollinator habitat into the spotlight while creating welcoming opportunities for residents to learn, share, and get involved.
Blooming Boulevards grows native plants, creates pollinator gardens, trains volunteers, and teaches environmental awareness across Mississauga, helping connect neighbourhoods to nature one garden at a time.
We are deeply grateful to the City of Mississauga and the outstanding help of our project supporters who provided funds that made this cheerful season of growth possible. Their support helped summer staff, board members, volunteers, and garden stewards connect with residents across Mississauga and grow greener, more welcoming spaces together.

Summer Highlights
Outreach booths brought the buzz. We met residents at Garden Day, Plant Day, seniors’ fairs, family events, invasive species awareness events, and pollinator festivals.
Garden Wellness visits kept gardens thriving. We visited 14 stewards’ gardens, offered practical advice, and provided replacement plants where needed.
Our first Grow and Tell event sparked neighbour-to-neighbour learning. Volunteer stewards welcomed visitors into their native habitat gardens to answer questions and share real-world tips.
Peel Living projects moved ahead. This included a new pollinator garden at Sydenham Place and promising new condo tower garden opportunities.
Cooksville SNAP work blossomed through partnership. With Credit Valley Conservation and Heart Comonos, we built three new raised wicking beds for native plant habitat for the repurposed parking lot/TowerPops communty hub at 67 Hillcrest, 3 garden design and planting workshops, and 3 garden sign painting events.
Malton SNAP planning continued to grow. We worked with Toronto Region Conservation Authority and partners from the new Malton Pollinator Haven initiative to keep building momentum for pollinator-friendly spaces.
What a season! Thank you to every supporter, volunteer, steward, partner, and neighbour who helped make this pilot program such a bright beginning. Together, we are planting more than gardens—we are growing community, biodiversity, and a healthier future for people and pollinators alike.
