We create citywide networks of native plant habitat gardens that help sustain native pollinator biodiversity.
We grow plants from locally sourced seeds of native sun-loving wildflowers and grasses. Not only do they beautify our neighbourhoods, but they also also provide much-needed pollen, nectar, shelter, and nesting sites throughout the year for our more than 300 native pollinators species like butterflies, moths, bees, beetles, flies, and hummingbirds.
-
Our native garden plants are low maintenance - no mowing needed! They are adapted to tolerate drought, salt and pollution, soak up runoff, and help conserve water.
-
All are deep-rooted perennials, tough and long-lived. Because they spend their first season growing deep roots, most begin to bloom in their second year, and by their third year they are fully mature.
When you become a member of Blooming Boulevards you may apply for a free garden.
We can provide participating garden stewards with enough free plants to cover an area of 4.5 square meters (50 square feet, or 10' x 5' ) when mature. You will also get a free site visit, plus guidance on design and garden maintenance. Expert monitoring and advice is always available.
