A Gallery of Bee Hotels: Part 1 - Woodland Cottages

Our "Build a Bee-utiful Bee Hotel" workshop is coming up later this month, on Sept. 28, so I've decided to present a selection of fabulous examples - one a day until the workshop! I took most of the photos at the Hampton Court Flower Show during my trip to England in July. These hotels were installed at the edge of a wooded area, with the river birch catkins and the woodland wildflowers providing food. Note how some of the structures include bird houses as well. The blue-roofed "village" of bee nesting boxes remind me of vacation cottages, but I'm certain the hard-working solitary bees that live here are not relaxing by the lake with a frosty beverage!
