Blooming Boulevards 2027- 2030 Strategic Plan
This plan is organized around three strategic priorities for 2027-2030: supporting biodiversity and climate resilience, connecting people and organizations to native habitat stewardship, and sustaining the organizational capacity needed to grow impact over time. Indicators will be reviewed annually by the Board to assess progress, identify resource needs, and adjust implementation priorities while maintaining alignment with Blooming Boulevards’ charitable purposes.
CHARITABLE PURPOSES
Support: To protect the environment for the benefit of the public by conserving ecosystems through projects that preserve, protect, and assist native flora and fauna in Southern Ontario.
Connect: To advance education by conducting workshops and courses to the public on environmental issues and environmentally sustainable horticulture and landscaping.
Sustain and Grow: To do all such things as are incidental and ancillary to the attainment of the above charitable purposes.

Our vision is a city-wide environment that supports well-being for all of its inhabitants - wildlife and natural resources as well as people. We envision a city with a resilient, biodiverse ecosystem that fosters community engagement through meaningful interactions with nature.
ORGANIZATION HISTORY
Blooming Boulevards is a Mississauga-based, volunteer-led organization of civic-minded residents who share a passion for gardening, environmental stewardship, and community well-being. When developing our mission and goals in early 2019, we built an expert volunteer Board of Directors and successfully delivered programs through our 2019–2022 pilot project.
From 2023 to 2026, we developed a phased plan to guide future program and service expansion. This growth is grounded in three complementary program areas—Gardens, Education, and Outreach—designed to support biodiversity, engage public participation, and align with City strategic priorities. We engage community members in pollinator conservation through hands-on learning, garden stewardship, and other volunteer opportunities.
• Volunteer training enables us to strengthen our native plant propagation projects, increasing our production and distribution of drought- and salt-resistant locally native plant seedlings. In our first six years, the number of our new gardens grew from fourteen in 2019 to nearly four hundred in 2026. These pollinator gardens link Mississauga’s expanding number of native plant habitat patches, increasing areas that support native pollinator biodiversity and resilience to climate change.
• Our education and outreach efforts now include free, inclusive virtual and in-person workshops for individuals, families, local clubs, community organizations, institutions, businesses, and corporations in Mississauga and beyond.
In 2025, Blooming Boulevards became a registered charity, strengthening our ability to advance our charitable purposes, grow our programs, and deepen our impact in the years ahead.
