Commitment: 30 hours/week
Duration: 9 weeks
Compensation: $17.60/hr
Setting: Hybrid, includes working outdoors and hands-on work
Positions Available: 2 Key Responsibilities

This is a hybrid role for a Project Coordinator as part of the Youth Canada Summer Job Program.

The position will function within the ‘Garden’ division of the organization and focus on spearheading new native plant garden initiatives. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

Develop protocols for and assist with carrying out our ‘Healthy Plants, Pollinators and People’ garden program
Contact Garden Stewards, schedule visits, design needs protocols, plan for, collect and distribute relevant resources
Document program initiatives, create materials outlining program details to be shared with Communications Team
Data collection and processing
Recruitment, organization and management of the Garden Wellness Task Force
Volunteer outreach, scheduling and outfitting
Coordinate and facilitate community-targeted garden workshops
Work as a team alongside counterpart, other volunteers and board members

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience with gardening, in particular native plant gardening.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Program and/or project coordination experience

  • Leadership skills and the ability to take initiative, work independently

  • Enrollment in or recent completion of a relevant college or university program

  • Ability to work hands-on with plants and plant material

  • Having access to your own car will be a strong asset, as work will be in multiple locations across Mississauga, both indoors and outdoors
