À propos de l'événement
Let's help pollinators survive! Join our volunteer team on Meadow Magic Weekend, where we will be getting a large field ready for planting pollinator-friendly wildflowers. The first step is to remove grass the easy way, using a "No-Dig" method.
On June 1 & 2, Meadow Magic volunteers will:
- Distribute a layer of wet cardboard on top of the closely-mown grass.
- Spread a mid-layer of compost
- Top off with a wood chip mulch.
In the fall, after the vegetation decays, we will sow seeds from perennial meadow flowers and grasses native to our area. In following years the young plants will develop their deep roots, flower and produce the seeds we will use to expand our program!. It's a win for the pollinators!
Support our city! We're proud to live in Mississauga - now a member of Bee City Canada.
